The reasons for the dismissal have not been disclosed; however, the publication NV, citing a source within the authorities, reports that Zelensky had “certain grievances” regarding the work of Mashovets, who oversaw the military direction in the Office of the President.

A source from the publication noted that Mashovets may transition to work at the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. However, the official did not respond to journalists' inquiries and declined to comment on the information regarding his dismissal.

More about Roman Mashovets

The 48-year-old politician and public figure Roman Mashovets was appointed Deputy Head of the President's Office in April 2020.

He graduated from the Military Diplomatic Academy. He served in a special operations unit of the GUR MO, participated in a peacekeeping mission in Sierra Leone, and was part of the Ukrainian contingent in Iraq.

In Mashovets' blog on the website of the publication “Left Bank,” it is noted that he was involved in the establishment of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He is a co-author of the Law on the creation of the Special Operations Forces.

It was also reported that he undertook 25 deployments to the combat zone in eastern Ukraine.
