A Russian strike drone with an explosive warhead hit a shelter that protects the world from radiation from the destroyed fourth reactor of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant last night.
This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, on social media.

“This shelter was built by Ukraine together with other countries in Europe and around the world, including America – with all those who seek true safety for people. The only state in the world capable of attacking such facilities, occupying nuclear power station territories, and conducting military operations without regard for the consequences is today’s Russia. This poses a terrorist threat to the entire world.
The shelter at Chernobyl was damaged by this drone. The fire has been extinguished. Currently, radiation levels have not increased, and this is being monitored continuously. Initial assessments indicate that the damage to the shelter is significant.
Russia conducts such attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure and our cities every night. Russia continues to increase its army. Russia does not change its insane, inhumane state rhetoric. This means that Putin is certainly not preparing for negotiations. He is preparing to continue deceiving the world. That is why a united pressure from everyone who values life is necessary – pressure on the aggressor. Russia must be held accountable for its actions,” the Head of State noted.

According to reports from the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City State Administration, as of eight o'clock on February 14, the level of air pollution in Kyiv is moderate. The radiation background throughout the city is normal.
