More than 300 residential buildings in the capital have installed autonomous energy equipment and are no longer affected by power outages, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported on Facebook on Tuesday.

"An increasing number of buildings, regardless of their management type, are taking advantage of city programs to enhance energy resilience. For instance, over 10 high-rise buildings have already installed solar power stations, and this number is growing. Additionally, more than 300 buildings have completed the necessary work and are independent of power outages," he noted.

In particular, residents have set up mini power stations, generators, and storage devices. During power outages, the buildings still have heating, water supply, and functioning elevators.

According to the mayor, there are four energy efficiency programs in Kyiv for residential communities, which have already led to the implementation of more than 2,500 projects for acquiring backup power sources, renovations, and energy-efficient works.

As reported by the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA), these programs are aimed at homeowners associations (OSMD) and housing cooperatives (JSC) "70/30", a scheme for partial compensation of the cost of independent energy sources, the "Renovations" program applicable to all buildings without exception, and the Revolving Fund, which provides affordable loans and credit to apartment buildings.

Klitschko also introduced one of the high-rise buildings in the Dnipro district of the capital, which was the first to receive the title of "Energy-Sustainable House of Kyiv."

"With the help of the city, residents installed a solar power station and inverters. Now, in the event of a power outage, the cold and hot water supply pumps, heating circulation pumps, elevator, corridor lighting, and internet are operational," he emphasized.

The mayor also showcased a building in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv that has utilized all four energy independence programs over the past year.
