The younger of the offenders is only 15 years old
In Kyiv, a 41-year-old man and a 15-year-old teenager have been charged for setting fire to a military vehicle and a branch of JSC "Ukrposhta" on demand.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The preliminary investigation established that the older of the suspects received a message in Telegram in December 2024, offering him $10,000 to set fire to a car belonging to a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or another military formation.
“Subsequently, on Demiivska Street, the man spotted a Jeep Cherokee with the Armed Forces of Ukraine insignia, took a photo of it, and sent the image to the client. After receiving approval, he doused the car with gasoline and set it on fire,” the prosecutors stated.
The 15-year-old native of Donetsk acted under a similar scheme, being offered money to set fire to a "Ukrposhta" branch. After purchasing a flammable substance, he soaked the mat and doors of the postal office in the Svyatoshynskyi district of Kyiv and ignited them.
Currently, the older offender has been charged with obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period (Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), while the younger one faces charges for intentionally destroying or damaging property by arson (Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Both suspects have been remanded in custody.
