Drug traffickers earned over 5 million hryvnias each month
Authorities in Kyiv have uncovered members of an organized crime group that was trafficking cocaine from Spain.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The organizers turned out to be two natives of Kyiv, one of whom resides in Spain. The accomplices disguised cocaine in coffee packages and sold them in Ukraine via a Telegram channel, as well as directly to trusted clients. According to the prosecutor's office, the Spanish member of the crime group even involved his own mother in this "business".
Drug traffickers earned over 5 million hryvnias each month.
“As a result of searches conducted at the homes of the group members, 800 grams of cocaine, 2 kg of cannabis, cash, packaging materials, and 'black' accounting records were seized. The total value of the seized substances exceeds 6 million hryvnias,” law enforcement officials reported.
Currently, five individuals have been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal sale of narcotic substances as part of an organized group in particularly large amounts. The penalty for this article includes up to 12 years of imprisonment with asset confiscation.
