The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) further weakened the official exchange rate of the hryvnia against the US dollar by 5 kopecks on Thursday, following a decrease of 11 kopecks on Wednesday, bringing it to 41.7316 UAH/$1, according to data on the regulator's website.
The reference rate set by the NBU at 12:00 on Thursday was 41.7602 UAH/$1, compared to 41.6680 UAH/$1 on Wednesday.
In the cash market on Thursday, the dollar decreased by 3 kopecks for purchase, reaching 41.75 UAH/$1, while it increased by 1 kopeck for sale, reaching 41.80 UAH/$1.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers has projected an average annual official exchange rate of the hryvnia against the US dollar in the state budget for 2025 at 45 UAH/$1.
In the 2024 budget, the government had projected an average annual rate of 40.7 UAH/$1, with an end-of-year rate of 42.1 UAH/$1. Over the past year, the hryvnia depreciated by 10.6% or 4.02 UAH, reaching 42.0390 UAH/$1 according to the official rate.
As of February 1, 2025, Ukraine's international reserves were estimated at $43.031 billion. In January, they decreased by 1.8% or $785 million, while net international reserves (NIR) fell by $0.79 billion or 2.7%, totaling $28.313 billion.
