The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated over 1.5 billion UAH for maintaining the safe condition of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant shelter, announced Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal.
"Today, the Government is directing more than 1.5 billion UAH to ensure the safe condition of the ChNPP shelter," Shmyhal stated during a government meeting on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister noted that funding has increased by 139 million UAH compared to 2024.
He also mentioned that after the Russian drone attack on the Chernobyl NPP shelter, there is no radiation threat, and efforts to mitigate the consequences are ongoing.
As reported, as a result of the strike by a Russian drone on February 14 in the morning on the NSC "Shelter" above unit No. 4 of the Chernobyl NPP and the subsequent fire, the integrity of the outer shell of the NSC and the equipment in the crane maintenance garage was compromised.
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, stated on February 15 that the radiation level at the site has not changed despite the significant damage, which was confirmed by the IAEA team's own measurements.
