Architects from Kharkiv have launched a campaign to create a digital twin of the city's iconic building - the State Industry House (Gosprom).
"We don't have time to hesitate! They are stripping away our identity, destroying architectural monuments, historical buildings, burning forests, blowing up dams... Their goal is to turn us into mere inhabitants.
But we are the inhabitants, if we cannot unite and protect our heritage. Is it really a problem for a city of a million to gather 50 kopecks for creating a 3D model of our Gosprom? So far, there are only blueprints made from manual measurements! And there are already two airstrikes, so why are we hesitating?" - wrote architect and co-founder of SBM Studio, Olga Kleitman, on her Facebook page.
She reported that a Kharkiv geodetic company has agreed to start scanning immediately. The fundraising goal is 500,000 UAH.
As reported, on the evening of October 28, 2024, a direct hit from a Russian guided bomb was recorded at Gosprom, resulting in the destruction of a wall in one of the building's entrances, the ceiling above the third floor, and the second floor; windows below were shattered. About 700 windows were damaged. Oleg Synegubov, head of the OGA, mentioned that a UNESCO mission is expected to visit in March to analyze and assess the damage to Gosprom, and a memorandum has already been signed to begin conservation work.
Gosprom (House of State Industry) is considered one of the symbols of Kharkiv. It was one of the first Soviet skyscrapers, built between 1925 and 1928, and was officially opened on November 7, 1928.
