The intelligence agency of South Korea has confirmed reports that Ukrainian forces captured a wounded North Korean soldier in the Kursk region. The previous evening, information regarding the capture of the DPRK fighter was shared on Ukrainian media outlets.
The South Korean news agency widely disseminated a statement from the Republic of Korea's intelligence on Friday, December 27, confirming that the injured North Korean soldier was taken alive.
"Thanks to real-time information exchange with the intelligence organization of a friendly country, we have confirmed the capture of the wounded North Korean soldier and plans to closely monitor the further developments," stated a brief release from the National Intelligence Service, as quoted by Yonhap.
On the evening of December 26, reports surfaced online, accompanied by a photograph, suggesting that soldiers from the Special Operations Forces (SOF) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had likely captured the first North Korean soldier sent to fight alongside Russia.
This was notably reported by the Telegram channel "the_warshal18" on Thursday, as well as the publication "Militarny." Corresponding photos were also shared.
According to reports from the Telegram channel, this North Korean "warrior" appears to have sustained injuries. However, detailed information regarding his condition has not been clarified.
