The battles involving North Korean soldiers are geographically closer to Davos than to Pyongyang. Therefore, Europe must establish itself as a strong global player.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The head of state reminded that the USA is an indispensable ally for Europe. All countries are concerned about their alliance with the USA, especially during wartime.
"But does anyone in the United States worry that Europe might one day abandon them — stop being their ally? The answer is no. Washington does not believe that Europe can offer them anything truly significant," Zelensky emphasized.
He pointed out that just last year, the USA openly declared that their first security priority is the Indo-Pacific region, the second is the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, and only the third is Europe. This was the case even during the administration of former President Joe Biden.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Europe cannot afford to be second or third for its allies. If this happens, the world will start moving forward without Europe, and it will be a world that is not comfortable or favorable for Europeans. Europe must compete for a leading position in priorities, alliances, and technological development," Zelensky clarified.
Additionally, as the president noted, the world is currently at a turning point. It is crucial for Europe to become a strong global player, an indispensable player.
"Remember, there is no ocean separating European countries from Russia. And European leaders must keep this in mind — battles involving North Korean soldiers are now taking place in locations that are geographically closer to Davos than to Pyongyang," Zelensky stated.
He added that despite the fact that Russia's overall economic potential is much smaller than that of Europe, the RF produces several times more ammunition and military equipment than all European countries combined.
