Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to the United States for its support and the meeting. At the same time, he emphasized that Ukraine needs a just and strong peace.

In a brief message, the head of the Ukrainian state thanked U.S. President Donald Trump, Congress, and the American people, without responding to the dispute that arose in the Oval Office.

Zelensky simply added that Ukraine requires a just and strong peace, and that he is working towards this goal.

What happened in the White House?

On February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Washington for his first meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. It was expected that Ukraine and the U.S. would sign an agreement on mineral resources.

However, at some point during the meeting between Zelensky, Trump, and Vice President JD Vance, a dispute arose regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Vance stated that the war between Russia and Ukraine should be resolved through diplomacy. In response, the Ukrainian president remarked that he had already signed an agreement with Putin in the presence of the President of France and the Chancellor of Germany.

Zelensky also mentioned that if a bad agreement is signed between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, the United States would "feel it." Vance and Trump were taken aback and replied that they would be "just fine," adding that Zelensky has no right to impose his views.

After this, Trump wrote that Zelensky is "not ready for peace", but added that he "can come back" when he changes his mind.

The President of Ukraine left the White House early, and the agreement on mineral resources was not signed.
