The analytical firm AccuWeather has revised its estimate of the damages caused by the raging wildfires in California. Just a day ago, on January 9, experts predicted that the fires would cost the state between $52-57 billion. Now, the damages are estimated to be between $135 billion and $150 billion.
"AccuWeather has raised its previous estimate of total damages and economic losses from the wildfires in Southern California to a staggering $135-150 billion," wrote company representative Bill Weidel on social media platform X.

He added that next week, gusty winds are expected to intensify, increasing the risk of further fires.
JPMorgan Chase has estimated the damages to be nearly $50 billion.
In Los Angeles County, five major fires are raging across more than 14,000 hectares. The largest of these are still not under control. In Los Angeles, evacuation is ongoing for residents in areas near Hollywood, with over 100,000 people required to leave their homes.
