The United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with £2 billion (approximately €2.4 billion) for the procurement of air defense systems and missiles for air defense.
This was announced by Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
On January 31, the government approved a draft law on the ratification of a Framework Agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom aimed at strengthening defense capabilities. The document also includes funding for the establishment of maintenance bases for military equipment and weapons, including on Ukrainian territory.
According to Shmyhal, these measures will significantly enhance the country's defense capabilities.
The First Visit of the UK Prime Minister
On January 16, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer made an unannounced visit to Kyiv, where he held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was his first trip to Ukraine since taking office.
Following their meeting, the leaders signed an agreement for a “100-year partnership,” which encompasses military cooperation, collaboration in the energy sector, and other fields.
