The governor of the Ryazan region, Pavel Malkov, reported on the attack in the area.
However, he only mentioned that the air defense systems in the region were activated, destroying unmanned aerial vehicles. The official did not specify the consequences of the strike but stated that "the material damage is currently being assessed."
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that 8 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the territory of the Ryazan region.
Meanwhile, the Russian Telegram channel Astra writes citing local residents and other channels that a fire broke out near the oil refinery in Ryazan. However, there is currently no confirmation of this, as it is impossible to determine the date of the video footage of the fire circulating online.
Just 2 days ago, on January 24, the Ryazan oil refinery was already on fire — it was hit by drones from the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine.
Ukrainian military personnel have stated that the Ryazan oil refinery is one of the largest in Russia, with a processing capacity of 17 million tons of oil per year.
