In Russia, drones have targeted the Ryazan Oil Refinery for the third time this year.

In the Russian city of Ryazan, local residents and media reported explosions near an oil refinery on the night of February 24. This marks the third time the refinery has come under drone attack since the beginning of 2025.

The Telegram channel Astra reports on this matter.

Governor Pavel Malkov of the region stated that debris falling caused a flare-up at one of the enterprises, although he did not specify the exact location. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia reported the destruction of 23 drones. Specifically, 16 UAVs were shot down over the Oryol region, while the others were downed over Bryansk, Ryazan, and the temporarily occupied Crimea.

Andrey Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, confirmed the attack on the Ryazan Oil Refinery.

According to him, the processing capacity of this plant reaches 17.1 million tons of oil per year, making it one of the five largest refineries in Russia. It produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil, and petrochemicals.

Aviation fuel is critically important for the frontline aviation of the Russian army and strategic long-range aviation conducting strikes on Ukraine.

In 2025, the Ryazan oil refinery was first attacked on January 24, followed by another attack on January 26. Since the beginning of the year, 27 fuel and energy facilities in 16 regions of Russia have been subjected to attacks, according to calculations by Astra.
