This was reported by Library Branch 6 of the Central Library of Poltava MTG and co-owner of "Nova Poshta" Vladimir Poperyshnyuk.
Elena Yavorskaya, an employee of the "Nova Poshta" contact center, her husband Dmitry, and their daughter Sofia, who was only 9 years old, lost their lives.
The Yavorskys lived on the second floor of the destroyed building.
“Our regular reader Sofia has died — a young girl who sincerely loved books and always came to the library with a curious gaze and an open heart. She was a talented, kind, bright girl who inspired us with her thirst for knowledge and dreams about the future,” the Poltava library reported.
Russian military forces launched an attack on Ukraine with missiles and drones on the morning of February 1. Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, and Kyiv regions were targeted.
In Poltava, the occupiers destroyed the entrance of a five-story building, leading to a fire. Nearby buildings and vehicles were also damaged. Preliminary reports indicate that Russian troops struck the city with an X-22 missile.
As a result of the attack in Poltava, 14 people lost their lives, including two children. 17 individuals, among them 4 children, sustained injuries.
Law enforcement officials have initiated a pre-trial investigation into the military crime that led to the loss of life (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
