More details on the situation throughout the year in various directions

  • Kherson Region: during 2024, the occupiers managed to eliminate the Defense Forces' foothold near Krynkiv, located on the left bank of the Dnipro River. They also established control over most of the islands in the area of the old riverbed.

According to available information, the occupiers captured about 95 km² over the year.

  • Zaporizhzhia Region: from Kamyanske to Huliaipole, the enemy's activity was the lowest compared to other operational areas throughout 2024. This is primarily due to the redeployment of troops to Krynkiv and then to the Kursk region.

According to available data, the Armed Forces lost control over 97 km² of territory. Meanwhile, the Defense Forces improved their tactical position in the Kamyanske area and regained control over approximately 5 km².

  • Donetsk Region: throughout the year, enemy activity in the Donetsk region was the highest.

On the Velyka Novosilka — Ocheretyn front, throughout 2024, Russia maintained and intensified its offensive. In particular, the occupiers captured Avdiivka and Vuhledar, reached the immediate outskirts of Velyka Novosilka and Pokrovsk, and are completing operations to seize the city of Kurakhove.

Over the year, the enemy managed to gain control over more than 2400 km² of territory, with the maximum depth of captured areas reaching 45 km. This reduced the distance to the administrative border with Dnipropetrovsk region to less than 10 km south of Pokrovsk.

On the New York — Siversk front, over the year, Russia initiated successful offensives around Toretsk and New York, creating conditions for further advances south of the city of Konstantynivka, as reported by "Militarny." On the Konstantynivka and Siversk fronts, the Russian grouping was weakened due to the relocation of several units to the Kursk direction.

Throughout the year, the enemy was able to gain control over at least 335 km² of territory.

  • Lyman — Kupiansk Area: throughout the year, Russia conducted large-scale offensive operations in this area but was unable to fully achieve its objectives. Overall, the Russians gained control over at least 479 km² of territory.
  • North of Kharkiv Region: as a result of a successful offensive in May 2024, the enemy initially established control over 211 km² of territory and managed to seize 13 settlements. However, the Defense Forces not only halted the enemy's advance but also regained control over certain areas. The Kharkiv operation ended in failure for Russia.
  • Kursk Operation: in August 2024, the Ukrainian army launched a military operation on Russian territory and gained control over 1100 km² within a month.

There, the Russians called in reserves and even involved military personnel from North Korea in the war. As a result of counter-offensives, by the end of the year, approximately 460 km² remained under Ukraine's control.
