On the night of February 1, Russian forces launched a massive strike on Ukraine, deploying 126 Shahed attack drones and decoy drones, along with various types of missiles. A total of 165 targets were recorded, some of which were intercepted by Ukrainian forces.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Among the means used by the Russian military:
- 7 ballistic missiles "Iskander-M"/KN-23;
- 7 cruise missiles "Iskander-K";
- 8 Kh-22/32 cruise missiles launched from Tu-22M3 aircraft;
- 4 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea;
- 8 Kh-101/Kh-55 cruise missiles from strategic bombers Tu-95MS;
- 10 guided air-to-surface missiles Kh-59/Kh-69;
- 2 guided missiles Kh-31P from the Black Sea;
- 123 Shahed attack drones and decoy UAVs.
The Air Force noted that a portion of the 46 launched missiles was destroyed, while some did not reach their targets due to active resistance from the Defense Forces. Additionally, reports indicate damage caused by ballistic missiles. Further information is not disclosed.
Regarding the drones, 56 were shot down, and another 61 disappeared from radar.
Consequences of the attack
In the morning of February 1, Russian forces carried out missile strikes on Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, as well as Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, and Kyiv regions. In several areas, emergency power outages had to be implemented.
According to updated data, a woman was killed in Kharkiv, and five others were injured. In the Sumy region, three people lost their lives, and seven were killed in Poltava. There are also casualties resulting from strikes in Zaporizhzhia and Odesa.
