The National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” is launching a qualification enhancement program for veterans called “Humanitarian Demining”
This specialty will provide them with the opportunity to reintegrate into civilian life, as stated on the Facebook page of KPI.
“Our first program, developed in collaboration with the Kyiv Regional Employment Center, includes a module on project management, technical English, basic knowledge of demining, and of course, sapper safety — which is essential. Additionally, there is a special emphasis on developing leadership and social skills so that veterans can not only find new jobs but also become effective leaders or start their own businesses,” said Oksana Vovk, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Energy Saving and Energy Management at Igor Sikorsky KPI.
Partners in this initiative include the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the State Labor Service of Ukraine, the State Employment Service, with co-organizer being the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining (UNAGR). Experts from leading demining clusters and domestic manufacturers, along with KPI scientists, are working together to find innovative solutions in the security sector.
The first enrollment for the retraining course is planned to begin at the start of next year.
