The elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, will attempt to impose a peace agreement on Ukraine without security guarantees following his inauguration in January, while sanctions against Russia are expected to be softened. This is reported by The Financial Times. Zelensky has ruled out ending the war simply with a piece of paper without guarantees.

Under Trump's leadership, the U.S. is preparing a "new grand deal for a great power," the publication states.

Washington will "silently" grant Russia and China spheres of influence in their respective regions, while the United States will focus on asserting dominance in its own region, applying pressure on Mexico and Canada, and aiming to reclaim the Panama Canal and gain control over Greenland.

A potential agreement with China may include the easing of restrictions and tariffs on Beijing in exchange for China's purchases of American goods and favorable deals for American companies, such as Elon Musk's Tesla.

Trump will also abandon the defense of Taiwan, the publication reports.
