The American company Lockheed Martin announced at the end of January this year that the 900th interceptor for the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) missile defense system has been delivered to the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
As emphasized by Lockheed Martin's Vice President for Integrated Air and Missile Defense, Dan Nimblett, the delivery of the "milestone" interceptor occurred at a time when "global events have highlighted the strategic importance of THAAD in deterring and countering evolving threats."

It is worth noting that at the end of last year, an event occurred in the U.S. military that American forces had been anticipating since as far back as 2008.
Specifically, this refers to one of the THAAD battery systems, which had previously been deployed to Israel and operated under U.S. military control, successfully conducting a combat launch against a ballistic missile fired by Houthi forces from Yemen towards Israel.
"THAAD is critical for protecting our country and allies from a range of ballistic missiles, and Lockheed Martin will continue to work with our industry and government partners to provide our proven capabilities," Nimblett emphasized.
Additionally, it is important to remember that from time to time, media outlets have raised the question of whether Ukraine has requested this missile defense system among the list of arms from the U.S. - we have detailed the realism of its transfer.
Earlier, Defense Express also discussed why even the THAAD missile defense system may be insufficient to counter Russian "Oreshnik" missiles.
