The U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, welcomed Kellogg.
Commenting on his visit to Kyiv, the special envoy stated that "this is an opportunity to hold potentially fruitful negotiations."
“We will listen. We are ready to provide what is necessary. We understand the need for security guarantees. Part of my mission is to listen. Then I will return to the U.S. and talk to President [Donald] Trump to ensure we all understand correctly,” Kellogg emphasized.
On his way to Kyiv, he managed to attend the Munich Security Conference and visit Poland, where he met with President Andrzej Duda.
The President of Ukraine previously mentioned that Kellogg is expected to stay in Ukraine for about two days, during which, as Zelensky hopes, he will visit the front and meet with commanders of some Ukrainian brigades.
It is worth noting that Kellogg's trip to Ukraine was initially planned for early January. He was scheduled to meet with officials in Kyiv and also visit Rome and Paris. However, it was postponed.
Advisor to the President's Office, Mykhailo Podoliak, described the rescheduling of Kellogg's visit as a “positive signal.” In his opinion, this indicates that the transition team of Trump is studying the information provided by intelligence and “has a deeper understanding of what this war is about and what decisions can be implemented.”
