On the night of December 31, Russian forces launched 21 missiles and 40 drones—specifically Shahed-type and other types—at Ukraine. The Air Force intercepted 6 missiles and 16 drones.

Russia fired at Ukraine:
- 6 ballistic missiles "Iskander-M"/KN-23 from the Voronezh region of Russia;
- 1 air-launched ballistic missile X-47M2 "Kinzhal" from a MiG-31K fighter jet in the airspace of the Tula region of Russia;
- 6 guided aviation missiles X-69 from tactical aviation aircraft in the airspace of the Belgorod region of Russia;
- 8 cruise missiles X-22 from Tu-22M3 aircraft in the airspace of the Tula region;
- 40 strike UAVs of the "Shahed" type and other types of imitation drones from the directions of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Bryansk, and Millerovo in Russia.
As a result of combat operations by anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces, the following were shot down:
- 1 air-launched ballistic missile X-47M2 "Kinzhal";
- 5 guided aviation missiles X-69;
- 16 strike UAVs of the "Shahed" type, with an additional 24 imitation drones lost in various locations (without negative consequences).
As a result of the Russian attack, there were hits from ballistic missiles in the Sumy and Kyiv regions.
