In the past year, Russia has occupied over 4,000 km² of Ukrainian land and lost more than 420,000 personnel, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

In 2024, the Russian army occupied 4,168 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, suffering over 420,000 casualties, including both killed and wounded soldiers.

In December, the Russian offensive slowed down somewhat. During this period, they captured 593 km², with losses for the occupiers remaining consistent with those in the fall.
