According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Thursday, January 2, the enemy launched 13 attacks near Kurakhove and Shevchenko in the Kurakhiv direction. 11 battles have concluded, while two are still ongoing.
The enemy's goal is to cut off the main logistical artery in this area—the Kurakhove-Zaporizhzhia highway. This was reported by a representative of the press service of the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade, Orest Drymalovskyi, during a national telethon "Unified News."
"The situation in the Kurakhiv direction is tense; the enemy attempts to conduct assault operations daily. I would not use terms like 'encirclement,' as that is not currently applicable.
The situation is complex, and the enemy is doing everything possible to reach the main logistical artery in this area—the Kurakhove-Zaporizhzhia highway. The defense forces are doing everything they can to deny the enemy this opportunity and to destroy their offensive potential.
The enemy has somewhat reduced the intensity of their attacks, and we are observing less use of armored vehicles—either due to weather conditions or due to the significant losses reported by the occupiers in the Kurakhiv direction.
The enemy often operates with infantry, deploying small assault groups. They employ infiltration tactics into our combat formations, attempting to penetrate and sneak up on positions.
In these attacks, the occupiers suffer massive casualties. Intelligence has just informed me that today alone, there have been 20 occupiers eliminated in our defensive sector," Orest Drymalovskyi stated.
