On the night of December 28, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using 16 Shahed-type strike drones and other models of unmanned aerial vehicles. Ukrainian forces managed to destroy 15 of them.

The drone launches were conducted from Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia. As of 08:30, the electronic warfare forces and mobile fire groups of the Air Forces and Defense Forces of Ukraine had shot down 15 enemy drones in Mykolaiv region. One imitation drone was lost.
According to the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Kim, the debris from the downed drones caused a fire on the roof of a five-story residential building in Mykolaiv and ignited dry grass at an industrial facility. Both fires were quickly extinguished.
The building sustained partial roof damage and broken windows. There were no casualties.
