Starting from January 2025, internally displaced persons (IDPs) across all regions of Ukraine will be able to apply for housing rental subsidies. The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the relevant legislative changes.
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, via Telegram.
We understand the challenges faced by individuals who have been forced to leave their homes. Displaced persons who spend more than 20% of their income on housing rent will have the opportunity to apply for a subsidy, and the state will partially reimburse these expenses, the head of government noted.
Furthermore, Shmyhal added that the government plans to compensate landlords for part of their income taxes, provided they officially rent housing to displaced persons under a contract.
It is worth noting that earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the redistribution of 15 billion hryvnias for the state program "eRecovery." These funds are allocated for compensations for damaged or destroyed housing as a result of the full-scale invasion by Russia.
