Turkey has dispatched a team of experts to investigate the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) aircraft that occurred in Kazakhstan while operating the Baku-Grozny flight.

This information was reported by TRT Haber.

According to Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, a commission of eight Turkish specialists will join the investigation at the request of the State Civil Aviation Agency of Azerbaijan. They will begin their work on December 28 in Baku, collaborating with local authorities.

It is worth noting that the aviation accident took place on December 25 near the Kazakh city of Aktau. The AZAL aircraft, which was en route from Baku to Grozny, crashed while carrying 67 individuals, including five crew members. At least 38 people lost their lives.

Sources from Euronews within the Azerbaijan government indicated that the cause of the crash may have been a Russian surface-to-air missile, launched during drone activity in the Grozny area. The missile exploded mid-flight, and its debris struck the aircraft.

Azerbaijan Airlines commented on the incident, attributing the tragedy to "external physical and technical influences."
