More than 850 tons of construction debris were removed from the site of the damage
On the evening of January 3, rescuers completed the dismantling of debris on the sixth floor of a residential building on Bankova Street, which had been damaged during a Russian airstrike on the first day of the year.
“Rescue units dismantled collapsed ceiling slabs weighing between 7 and 19 tons, cleared the rubble, and removed hazardous structures,” reported the Kyiv City State Administration.
In total, over 850 tons of construction debris were removed from the damaged building.
According to information from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv, 382 rescuers and 117 units of main and special equipment were involved in the cleanup efforts.
“We sincerely thank the volunteers who tirelessly assisted and supported the rescuers throughout all three days. Thanks to you, the team on-site had hot beverages, food, and necessary materials,” stated the press service of the State Emergency Service.
Recall that in the morning of January 1, a Russian airstrike led to destruction in two districts of Kyiv. Two people lost their lives, and four were rescued by emergency services.
