Troop buildup by Belarus at the border: the Central Defense Command stated that there is no threat of invasion.

The Center for Counteracting Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has refuted claims regarding the threat of an invasion by regular Belarusian troops.

The head of the center, Andrei Kovalenko, stated this.

The monitoring group "Belaruski Hayun" reported that since the end of December 2024, Belarus has increased its military presence along the border with Ukraine. Units of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus have allegedly been redeployed to the Stolin, Lelchitsy, Mozyr, and Gomel regions.

They also claimed that at the end of December, a military transport aircraft Il-76 of the Russian Aerospace Forces flew from Russia to Belarus.

The Center for Countering Disinformation stated that the information from channels about the buildup of Belarusian troops on the other side of the border does not imply the formation of strike groups or preparations for offensive actions.

"As of today, there is no threat of an invasion by regular Belarusian troops from that country... The Defense Forces of Ukraine fully control the situation in the border area," Andrei Kovalenko emphasized.

Belarus in the War of the Russian Federation Against Ukraine

Belarus has not sent its own troops to Ukraine but has provided its territory for the Russian army, which conducts shelling of Ukraine; has accepted Russian military personnel for treatment; and has conducted joint military exercises with Russia.

The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine noted that the Ministry of Defense of Belarus acts in the interests of the military-political leadership of Russia and has facilitated the organization of training and direct armed aggression against Ukraine.

Lukashenko himself actively supports Putin's policies. In particular, Belarus is accused of being involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children from eastern Ukraine. Lukashenko referred to this as the "rehabilitation" of children and stated that he will continue to do this. At the same time, Lukashenko spreads narratives from Russian propaganda, "demonizing" Western countries.
