Vasily Ratushny, the older brother of Roman Ratushny, lost his life in the war.

Military serviceman Vasily Ratushny, brother of the late public activist Roman Ratushny who died in 2022, has lost his life in the war against the Russians.

This was reported by his mother, writer Svetlana Povalyaeva.

According to her, Vasily was killed on the night of February 27 during a combat mission due to a direct hit from an FPV drone. He served as a UAV pilot in the "Birds of Madyar" unit.

"My eldest son, my life", wrote Povalyaeva.

Vasily's younger brother, Roman, also joined the defense of Ukraine from the very first day of the full-scale invasion. Initially, he fought in battles around Kyiv, and later, as part of the 93rd Brigade "Cold Yar," he liberated Trostyanets, fought in the Sumy region, and near Izium. He served in the reconnaissance unit of the 2nd Motorized Infantry Battalion. Roman died on June 9 in battle near Izium.

Ratushny was one of the students who were beaten by security forces on Maidan in 2013. Later, he led the initiative "Let's Protect Protasov Yar," which fought against the development of the green zone in the capital, where the Dnipro developer "Daytona Group" was erecting three high-rise buildings. This company is linked to former Dnipro official Gennady Korban.

In November 2019, Roman Ratushny reported threats from the developer and stated that he was forced to go into hiding. He addressed this statement to the President and the Attorney General.

The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, promised during the farewell to Roman to keep Protasov Yar a green zone. On July 14, the Kyiv City Council supported the creation of the landscape nature reserve "Protasov Yar", which was named after the fallen activist.
