The victim was hospitalized with bodily injuries
The police have opened a criminal investigation into the traffic accident on Beresteiskyi Avenue, in which a female pedestrian was injured.
As reported by the Kyiv police communication department, the traffic incident occurred on Monday, February 3, at approximately 4:30 PM.
“It has been established that a 22-year-old driver of a Ford Explorer struck a pedestrian – a 27-year-old woman who was crossing the road at a controlled pedestrian crossing on a green traffic light. As a result of the collision, the victim sustained bodily injuries and was hospitalized by medical personnel. Currently, her life is not in danger,” the police stated.
A check of the accident's perpetrator for intoxication revealed that he was sober while driving.
The fact of the accident has been recorded in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code – violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles by persons driving vehicles, which resulted in medium severity bodily injury to the victim.
The sanctions under this article provide for punishment in the form of restriction of freedom for up to three years, along with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for the same period.
