The death toll in Sumy has risen to nine, and the search operations have concluded.

In Sumy, nine people lost their lives when a Russian drone struck a high-rise building. Additionally, thirteen others were injured, including an eight-year-old girl.

This was reported by Interior Minister Igor Klymenko and the Sumy City Council.

According to Klymenko, the emergency rescue and search operations, which lasted for 19 hours, have been completed. The city council noted that the last body recovered was that of a man born in 1967.

The Sumy regional prosecutor's office stated that among the deceased are: a 74-year-old man and his 69-year-old wife, a 65-year-old man and his 64-year-old wife, a 61-year-old man and his 61-year-old wife, as well as a 64-year-old man, a 63-year-old man, and a 37-year-old woman.

The prosecutor's office also reported there were 14 fatalities, not 13.

On the night of January 30, Russian troops attacked with Shahed drones in Sumy. One of the drones struck a residential high-rise building.

As a result of the attack, preliminary reports indicate that 9 apartments and 12 balconies were destroyed. In the building where the strike occurred, electricity, water, and heating supplies have been cut off. Additionally, one stairwell is without gas.

A pre-trial investigation is underway regarding the commission of war crimes, which resulted in loss of life — this falls under part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
