Today, January 9, at approximately 16:40, an emergency occurred: a rupture in the underground heating network happened at the intersection of Zhylianska and Symon Petliura streets

Witnesses reported that the asphalt suddenly began to crack, and people barely managed to move away from the dangerous area. Hot water erupted from the ground, flooding everything around. Thick steam enveloped the block.

At 17:15, "Kyivteploenergo" announced that the damage had been localized. They explained that a main pipeline with a diameter of 450 mm had ruptured. Immediately after, the pressure in the pipeline was reduced to eliminate the water leak. The "Kyivteploenergo" team began preparations for repair work.

As of 17:50, there was no information regarding this emergency event on the official KMDA website. Similarly, there was no mention of it on the personal Facebook page of the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko. A complete and utter information silence! However, today Klitschko took the time to detail how on January 9, he personally checked the updates on the tram tracks and the repairs made to the roadway for cars and public transport on Kyrylivska Street in the Podil district.

“Scalding” streets are one issue, reflecting the neglected state of public utilities, while vibrant photos against the backdrop of fresh asphalt present a completely different, glossy narrative.
