On Tuesday, February 4th, Russian occupiers launched a missile strike on the center of Izium in the Kharkiv region, using a ballistic missile. Administrative buildings and residential areas were hit, resulting in fatalities and numerous injuries. We have gathered all the current information regarding the attack.
The explosion occurred around 11:34 AM. At that time, the Air Forces had warned of a potential ballistic missile launch by the enemy from the east. It later became clear that the Russian military had carried out a missile strike in the center of the city.
The head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleg Synegubov, reported that one administrative building was damaged, along with another nearby structure and several apartment buildings, including a five-story block.
There are no military facilities in this area, Synegubov emphasized.
The mayor of Izium, Valeriy Marchenko, told "Suspilne" that among the damaged buildings were institutions where people worked: the tax office, social services, and the treasury.
Victims and Injured
According to the latest data, 5 people have died as a result of the missile attack. Among them are two women and two men. The bodies of some of the deceased were recovered from the rubble. All the victims are civilians, and their identities are being established.
Additionally, 24 individuals have been reported injured, all of whom have been hospitalized. One of the victims is a 15-year-old girl who sustained shrapnel wounds; her condition is assessed as moderate. Three other individuals are currently undergoing surgery, with medical staff actively providing assistance.
