Since the beginning of the year, over 10 models of fiber-optic drones have been codified and approved for operation.

Fiber optic drones play a crucial role on the battlefield, especially in challenging conditions involving enemy electronic warfare systems.
С начала года было кодифицировано и допущено к эксплуатации более 10 образцов волоконно-оптических дронов.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced on Saturday, March 1, that over the past month, more than 100 samples of military equipment have been codified and approved for operation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with over 90% of these, or more than 90 units, produced by Ukrainian companies. The defense authority notes a quantitative increase compared to February 2024, when approximately 60 units of military equipment were reported, of which a third, or about 20, were domestically produced.

The Ministry of Defense highlights that in February of this year, various types of weaponry underwent codification, ranging from drones to electronic warfare systems and aviation equipment.

Additionally, the defense ministry emphasizes that since the beginning of this year, "over 10 new types of unmanned aerial systems with fiber optic control channels" have been codified and approved for use in our military.

It is worth noting that fiber optic drones began to appear actively on the battlefield last year, primarily due to the threat posed by the Russian occupying forces. At the same time, our defense industry has rapidly mobilized, and by the end of the year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine completed the testing phase for fiber optic drones.

Later, at the beginning of the year, the Main Department of Defense Innovations of the Ministry of Defense conducted tests of fiber optic FPV drones, showcasing more than ten different drones with a payload capacity of up to 3 kg.

It is also important to note that we already have domestic fiber optic drones that can strike at a range of up to 41 km, as previously reported by the "Madjar Birds" brigade. It was noted that the production rates would reach 1000 units per month, making this an essential weapon against enemy artillery and air defense systems.

Earlier, Defense Express reported that there are two basic questions regarding fiber optic FPV drones on the battlefield, and here are the answers.
