Украина и ЕС согласовали увеличение импорта электроэнергии зимой до 2,1 ГВт, сообщает Министерство энергетики.

Ukraine and the EU have agreed to increase the import capacity of electrical energy during the winter months to 2.1 GW, reported the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine on Tuesday.

"Starting from December 1, the maximum import capacity of electricity from EU countries will rise from the current 1.7 to 2.1 GW. This will enhance the resilience of the Ukrainian energy system in the face of criminal Russian shelling and infrastructure destruction. I am grateful to our European partners, particularly European Commissioner Kadri Simson, for their steadfast position and effective measures to support our energy system ahead of winter," said quoted by the press service Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko.

Additionally, Ukraine will have guaranteed access to 250 MW of capacity flows from the EU in emergency assistance mode.

In turn, NEC "Ukrenergo" clarified that starting from March 2025, European transmission system operators will be able to review the capacity limit for commercial electricity exchanges between the EU, Ukraine, and Moldova on a monthly basis.

As reminded by the Ministry of Energy, the necessity of making this crucial decision for Ukraine regarding the increase in import capacity was discussed during a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in September in Kyiv.
