The transportation aspect of rail freight for key goods will see minimal changes after indexing, according to Pertzovsky.

The transportation aspect of the main cargo shipments by JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" (UZ) will not change significantly as a result of the tariff indexation.
После индексации транспортная часть в ж/д перевозках основных грузов, по словам Перцовского, останется практически неизменной.

The transportation component in the volume of cargo transportation by JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" (UZ) will not change significantly as a result of tariff indexing.

According to UZ Chairman Alexander Pertzovsky in an exclusive interview with the "Interfax-Ukraine" agency, the tariff for grain cargoes will increase by approximately 1.4%, while for iron ore it will rise by 2.7%; for coal and ferrous metals, the increase will be up to 1%.

"The transportation component in the overall cost of major cargoes remains at a level that should not fundamentally harm the competitiveness of Ukrainian products. Specifically, for grain cargoes, it will increase by approximately 1.4%, for iron ore by 2.7%, and for coal and ferrous metals up to 1%," said the UZ Chairman.

It was previously reported that the supervisory board of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" approved the indexing of cargo transportation tariffs, which had not been indexed for almost two years—since the summer of 2022. During this time, the producer price index for industrial products has already reached 176.4%. Meanwhile, railway workers proposed to limit the tariff indexing to a significantly more moderate figure: only 37%, or about 13% on an annual basis, considering that 2.5 years have passed since the last indexing, as reported by the press service.

Proposals for tariff increases were approved by the UZ board on December 5, 2024.
