Ukraine has returned five Ukrainian children aged between 1.5 and 18 years. They had been under Russian occupation for an extended period.
This information was shared by the advisor to the head of the Office of the President, Daria Zarivna, on Telegram.
According to her, among those returned is a 15-year-old daughter of a Ukrainian servicemember, who was recently freed from captivity.
"While her mother was imprisoned, the family had to keep their plans to leave secret to avoid harming her," Zarivna wrote.
An 8-year-old boy also returned from occupation, who, despite the occupiers' prohibitions, had been secretly studying at a Ukrainian online school throughout this time. Additionally, a 17-year-old young man, with a strong pro-Ukrainian stance, personally sought help to escape from occupation and continue building his future in Ukraine. He celebrated his coming of age already at home.
"Each return is a complex operation that requires coordination of many efforts. Special thanks to the team of the Ombudsman’s Office for organizing the rescue mission and ensuring the safe return of our children from occupation," the statement said.
