Ukraine plans to implement joint customs and border control with EU countries. The first country with which an agreement may be signed is Poland.
This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a meeting.
"We continue negotiations on joint customs and border control at the EU border. We expect the first results this year," the Prime Minister said.
According to him, the European Commission is currently assessing the potential agreement between Ukraine and Poland. Once technical issues are resolved, this developed model can be utilized for other neighboring EU member states.
Shmyhal reported on plans to expand the eQueue system. "In more than 2 years, we have had nearly 1.6 million border crossings using this system. Every day, thousands of trucks and buses utilize the system, which reduces their waiting time at the border," he said.
Further modernization of border crossing points is also planned. "Last year, a Strategy for the development of border infrastructure with the EU and Moldova until 2030 was approved. It includes the reconstruction of 28 border crossing points, as well as the construction of at least 6 new ones," the Prime Minister stated.
