The elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, intends to meet with Vladimir Putin as soon as possible, as he believes the conclusion of the war against Ukraine depends on him.
In an interview with Newsmax, Trump stated that he would like to meet with Putin as soon as possible after his inauguration on January 20.
"And I know he (Putin — ed.) wants to meet, and I'm going to meet very quickly. I would have done it earlier, but… you need to get into office (the White House — ed.). For some things, you really need to be there," he said.
When asked about his strategy for ending the war, Trump told Newsmax: "Well, there is only one strategy, and it depends on Putin, and I can't imagine he is thrilled with how everything has gone because it hasn't ended well for him either."
Trump again blamed all the issues on his predecessor, President Joe Biden.
"We wouldn't have had any wars. There wouldn't be Russia and Ukraine. We shouldn't have had Israel; Israel wouldn't have faced an attack from Iran because ultimately, it was Iran that did it," he said in the Newsmax interview.
Trump described Biden's presidency as a terrible four years.
"And I think that's probably why Putin invaded; when he saw the incompetence of [General Mark] Milley and those people, he said, 'Wow, these people aren't that good. We’re going to go and invade Ukraine.' I really think that was a big, big factor," Trump stated.
