The elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced preparations for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Reuters, Trump, speaking to Republican governors at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, expressed his desire to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
"He wants to meet, and we are working on it," Trump stated.
Although the exact date for the negotiations has not yet been set, Trump confirmed that discussions regarding the meeting are ongoing.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed confidence that Trump could play a key role in bringing the war to a close and restraining Putin.
