On Tuesday, January 14, President Volodymyr Zelensky shared another video of his conversation with a North Korean soldier who had been captured. Recently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine took him prisoner during combat operations. The corresponding video was published by Zelensky on his Telegram channel.
In the video, the North Korean is asked when he was captured by the Ukrainian forces. He responds that he does not remember. According to him, he only recalls that there was a battle in which his comrades left him behind, and he was alone for several days.
I was wounded, and after the battle, there was a retreat. Since I was injured, I couldn't move. I was alone for about 3-5 days. Then the Ukrainian troops found me.
The captive stated that in Russia, he was issued documents, but they did not have his name and lacked a photo. He also mentioned that in Russia, they were trained on how to capture Ukrainian prisoners.
According to Zelensky, efforts are currently underway to establish facts and verify details regarding the captive.
The world will learn the full truth about how Russia exploits these young men, who grew up in a complete information vacuum, knowing nothing about Ukraine, and are used by Russia solely to continue and escalate this war. This war is only needed by Russia. I am grateful to all our soldiers defending Ukrainian positions. I also appreciate everyone around the world who helps us save lives and maintain our independence.
