The Security Service of Ukraine apprehended "in the act" the head of one of the regional branches of a "well-known party," who demanded a bribe of $1 million from a private entrepreneur. This was reported by the SBU and the Office of the Prosecutor General.
In exchange for this sum, the politician promised to "resolve the land issue" that the businessman faced with officials from the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).
Specifically, he guaranteed that the entrepreneur would be leased a plot of land in the recreational area of Kyiv near the Dnipro River, which is under the control of the Kyiv community.

According to the investigation, the private enterprise owns real estate—a boat station located in the coastal zone in the Obolon district of Kyiv, in "Natalka" Park.
The investigation established that the businessman had previously attempted to obtain official permission from KCSA. However, according to case materials, officials denied the entrepreneur, citing artificially created bureaucratic obstacles.

Later, a politician approached the head of the private company, introducing himself as a lawyer from Odesa and offering to lease a 0.5-hectare plot of land for 25 years in exchange for a $1 million bribe.
It was documented that for this sum, the individual "guaranteed" to agree on the land issue with the relevant commission and during meetings of the Kyiv City Council.

The SBU detained the politician-lawyer in Kyiv "in the act" when he was handed $900,000 as an "advance." Published audio recordings of the detained individual's negotiations are available.
The corrupt official was notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud committed in particularly large amounts or by an organized group). The sanction of this article provides for a penalty of up to 12 years of imprisonment.
Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved. Law enforcement prepared a motion for his detention with an alternative of bail set at 38 million UAH.

Comprehensive measures are underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime and to hold those responsible accountable. In particular, law enforcement is conducting searches in the offices of KCSA.
