On Thursday, January 16, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited Ukraine, pledging to support its security for decades to come.
According to the Associated Press, Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will sign a 100-year partnership agreement in Kyiv. This agreement will cover collaboration in defense, science, energy, and trade.
This marks Starmer's first trip to Ukraine since he took office as Prime Minister in July of last year. He previously visited Ukraine in 2023 as the opposition leader and met with Zelensky twice at his official residence on Downing Street.
Previous Agreements and Discussions
On January 10, Bloomberg reported that Starmer planned a visit to Ukraine to discuss the potential deployment of an international peacekeeping contingent after the war ends.
Additionally, on January 10, Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron held talks at the UK Prime Minister's country residence, Chequers. The main topic of discussion was the situation in Ukraine and ways to support its sovereignty.
