The G7 countries have linked future sanctions against Russia to the willingness of the Kremlin regime to participate in peace negotiations regarding Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters, referencing a statement from the G7.
Any new additional sanctions after February must be connected to whether the Russian Federation will make genuine, good-faith efforts to bring a definitive end to military actions against Ukraine.
Russia's actions to cease the war must ensure "security and stability for Ukraine as a sovereign, independent nation," according to the statement.
In December 2024, the European Union approved the 15th package of sanctions against Russia. The latest restrictive measures aim to combat the "shadow fleet of tankers" that Russia uses to circumvent sanctions and other oil trade restrictions.
The 15th package includes 54 individuals and 30 organizations, including those from Russia, China, and North Korea.
