The Georgian delegation is suspending its work in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) following the adoption of a resolution that imposes sanctions and calls on the Georgian authorities to hold early parliamentary elections.

This was announced by the head of the delegation, Tea Tsulukiani, according to NEWSGEORGIA.

PACE ratified the powers of the Georgian representatives, but with restrictions. Specifically, the resolution demands new elections and the release of all political prisoners before the Assembly's April session.

Tsulukiani labeled these conditions as "unacceptable, unjust, and unfounded." She noted that the decision to suspend participation in PACE was made collectively by all members of the delegation from the ruling party "Georgian Dream."

According to her, Georgia will resume its participation in PACE only after a change in the "unjust treatment of the Georgian state and people" and the cessation of "blackmail."

At the same time, the country continues to remain a member of the Council of Europe.
