Journalists have discovered when the first meeting between U.S. and Russian officials regarding the war in Ukraine might take place.

A meeting between officials from the United States and Russia could take place as early as next week in Saudi Arabia.

This is reported by Bloomberg, citing its own sources.

The meeting is noted to be held in order to "lay the groundwork" for a potential meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin at the end of February.

Details of the meeting and the list of participants are still being worked out, however, Bloomberg sources claim that national security advisors, including those from Ukraine, will participate. However, representatives from the EU will not be present.

It is worth recalling that previously, US President Donald Trump stated that American and Russian officials would soon meet in Saudi Arabia to discuss the resolution of the war, with Ukraine also being part of the discussions.

Reuters, citing its own sources, has reported that Russia is considering Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates as potential locations for the talks between Trump and Putin.

What preceded this?

On February 12, US President Donald Trump had a phone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.

Afterward, he noted that he plans to visit Russia, while Putin is expected to visit the US, but prior to that, the politicians are expected to meet in Saudi Arabia.

Subsequently, Trump announced that American and Russian officials would soon meet in Saudi Arabia to discuss the resolution of the war. This meeting is set to take place next week (February 17-23), and the Ukrainian side will also be involved.

Zelensky stated that he would travel to the meeting in Saudi Arabia, which was previously announced by US President Donald Trump. However, the Ukrainian leader emphasized that he would not meet with the Russians there.
