This is reported by the Russian service "Radio Free Europe."
According to propagandist media, on December 18, 2023, officer Igor Pashkov was on combat duty in occupied Crimea when he received a report "of detecting a low-speed aerial target."
During the transmission of the message, confusion arose, and the clarification that it was a helicopter came too late.
Pashkov assumed the target was a drone and fired a missile from the surface-to-air missile system. The downed Mi-8 helicopter crashed into the Black Sea, and the crew perished.
The officer was found guilty of criminal negligence and sentenced to two years and ten months in prison.
