A passenger plane crashed in Kazakhstan: here's everything we know.

The government of Kazakhstan has stated that the Embraer 190 aircraft belongs to Azerbaijan Airlines. It was operating a flight from the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, to the city of Grozny in Russia. According to the Chechnya airport, due to fog in Grozny, the plane was redirected to Makhachkala and then to Aktau.

It is known that before the accident, the aircraft issued an emergency signal and circled over the airfield.

According to preliminary data from Rosaviatsiya, the accident occurred due to a bird strike. Due to the emergency situation on board, the aircraft's commander decided to divert to the alternate airport in Aktau.

In Kazakhstan, it is noted that there were 5 crew members and 67 passengers on board the aircraft. The Telegram channel "112" claimed that there were 60 Russians on board. The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan clarified that there were 16. Additionally, there were 37 citizens of Azerbaijan, 6 citizens of Kazakhstan, and 3 from Kyrgyzstan.

Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova confirmed that there are survivors. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, there are 25 survivors. At least 17 people, including a child, were transported from the crash site to the Mangistau Regional Hospital in Aktau. The injured are in extremely serious condition.

14 ambulance teams were dispatched to the scene. Medical aviation has also been prepared to transport traumatologists and neurosurgeons to the crash site, as assistance was decided to be provided on-site.

52 rescuers and 11 units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan are currently working at the site.
